But going to be working hard next few days, so tried to make the most of today.

Stayed in Strathaven after pool last night at Kirsty's. Got up this morning after a slight lie in (!), then went and got some lunch. Then a driving lesson at 1.30pm. It's quite sad being nearly 30 and still not being able to drive, but it's something thats never interested me.

But Kirsty says it's time to get my finger out. She got me them as my Christmas present. Today was my 6th lesson, and I am getting worse, not better. Oh well, more practise needed, and about another 30 lessons.

We just relaxed this afternoon, watched some tv, then got some dinner, then more tv. Just the perfect way to spend a day off.

Early night tonight, 12 hour shifts over the next few days, really looking forward to them. Not. At least got the Masters golf to enjoy over the next few nights!

 Comments

Tuesday 4th April

Back at work this morning. Only in until 2.30pm, which was a blessing, not a good day to be at work, people a bit stressed.

Got the Grand National this Saturday, so under pressure from Bosses to make as much money as possible. Even tho we had a great Cheltenham Festival, still not good enough for them.

Doesn't help much when our computer system is terrible. It had crashed each of the last SIX Saturday's, and people have went about half an hour without being able to place a bet. In my opinion, this is a complete joke. Yet the 'high heid yins' don't seem to be interested. Total farce.

Also the shop hasn't been as busy as usual lately, we don't know if people are just skint, or if the smoking ban up here in Scotland is having a bad effect on our business. Will have to see how it goes over the next couple of weeks.

Tuesday night is pool night, playing in Strathaven last night, which means a couple of dudes not drinking and having to drive, which is never fun for them. But we made up for it by winning 10-4, a great result for us. Anyone can track our progress on our web site, which is:

http://ekpool.leaguerepublic.com/

We are 'The Murray'. This is only our third season in the League, we finished 9th last year, so hoping to finish a lot higher this season. We have also just qualified for the quarter-finals of the league cup, seeded 4th in that, so here's hoping we can get to the Semi-finals.

 Comments

Monday 3rd April

Day off work today, woo hoo!!

Met my mate Gavin, went and got some much needed pool practise in. Still not playing as well as I should be.

Then back to his house, played some Madden 06 on the Xbox. Quality game, we have just started a franchise, as the Pittsburgh Steelers (Gav's choice, he is a mad Steelers fan, has been for years, still on a high after they won the superbowl).

Then some dinner, then off to the Bowling for League Night. Play in a Trios Ten Pin Bowling League on a Monday night, have done for the last 10 or 11 years. We play as the 'Buffalos'. Season started last September, now only 2 weeks of it left. 16 team league, play each other twice. It also is a 'handicap' league, kind of like in golf, to give every bowler, no matter the standard, to help their team.

As I was saying, only 2 weeks left to bowl after tonight, which we won 3-1, and we are now 3 points off of 3rd place, 1st and 2nd miles out on front of us. Have to win our last 2 matches 4-0, and hope for the best just to finish 2nd.

Also now catching up with baseball results, it being opening day today. Currently watching the Braves vs Dodgers game just now, looking like a comfortable win for the Braves. Glad to see the Cubs get off to a flier, got a feeling they might surprise a lot of people this season!

Back to work tomorrow morning, then Pool tomorrow night.

 Comments

Sporting Mad.

Its a great time of year to be a sports fan. Got so much to look forward to in the next month or so.

MLB Baseball season starts tonight. A great excuse to stay up to 3am over here in sunny Scotland. Looking forward to this season, have no idea who will win this season, after the Red Sox and White Sox winning the last 2 seasons, surely the Cubs must be in with a shout of making it 3 teams in 3 years to lose their 'curse' tag?

The Masters Tournament starts this Thursday as well. Always the best Major in a visual sense, just with they would stop changing the Augusta National course so much every year, just playing into Tiger's hands.

Talking of Tiger, still a chance he might not play in it this year, due to the ill health of his father. He is the obvious favourite, but if he doesn't show up, who will win? Phil Mickelson has just won the Bellsouth Classic by about 47 shots, so he is obviously in top form, and being a previous winner, will be there or thereabouts on sunday. Vijay has went off the boil, Els and Goosen both a bit inconsistant just now. About time Harrington and Clarke, or most Europeans for that matter, showed up and won a major. Myself, going for a huge outsider in KJ Choi. Always plays well at Augusta, just a slight worry that the course will be too long for him.

This Saturday we also have the Grand National at Aintree, the World's greatest horserace. As I work for a bookmakers, its our busiest day of the year by far, virtually the entire British public have a bet on the race. Bookmakers love it, as it's a total lottery, so much can happen in a race over 4 and a half miles, 40 runners and 30 huge fences. As for a winner, hmmm, Hedgehunter will be the favourite, think I will go for Ollie Magern.

Also I have to mention Gretna, for reaching the Scottish Cup Final. A huge achievement for a team that has been playing in the Professional Leagues in Scotland for less than 5 years, and come from a town with a population of only 3,000. They will play Hearts in the final on Sat 13th May, and with Hearts doing so well in the SPL, they are already almost guaranteed a place in next season's UEFA Cup. Incredible!!

Name is James, 29 years old, work for a bookmakers.

Recently got engaged, to Kirsty, and we get married next year. She has changed my life so much, and can't ever imagine being without her.

I am sport mad, and probably what I will talk about most on my blog. Favourite sports are Football and Golf, but will watch and take part in virtually all sports. Also mad on American Sports, in particular Baseball and American Football.

Also a keen ten-pin bowler, and I am Secretary of League I have bowled in for last 10 years. Also play Pool for my local pub team in local Pool League.

Thats the basic stuff about me, now going to read other blogs to see what other people are up to!!
